van van cleave (b. 1995) is a writer, editor, and painter working in oakland, ca. their writing has been supported by tin house and breadloaf environmental writers’ conferences and published in medium, reader’s digest, taste of home, the healthy, and more. they received their b.a.s at brown university in literary arts and english, where they earned honors for their novella what you don’t know that you don’t know. they were awarded second place in the isis magazine’s β€œ500” flash fiction competition. they have previously worked for yale university press, chronicle books, and callisto media and currently write and edit for the nature conservancy of california.
